• Give your tree a hearty shake. Before bringing it into your home, stomp it outside.

• If you are not immediately setting up your tree, store your tree in the shade or out of the wind.

• Put a fresh cut on your tree immediately before putting in water. About 1/2" cut is adequate.

• Keep water in your stand. This is the most important factor in maintaining needle retention.

• Check daily, your tree should drink gallons of water during the holiday season.

• Room temperature water is adequate, but if you allow your tree to go dry, try boiling hot water to soften the sap that has sealed the bottom.

• Avoid putting tree directly in front of a heater.
